Our facial skin is exposed to a variety of environmental influences every day: heat, cold, fine dust, dirt, sweat, and UV radiation all leave their mark, but with a few facial care essentials, you can easily support your skin.

Just use your girlfriend's or roommate's products? Better not! Men's skin is different from women's: It's up to 20 percent thicker, has larger pores, and a different pH level. Men's skin also has more sebaceous and sweat glands, which makes them more prone to blemishes. The most important basics for men are therefore a good cleanser and a light face cream to ensure adequate moisture.

In general, men with beards don't need to follow any special skincare routines. The foundation for fresh, clear skin is always good cleansing and adequate moisture. If you're prone to blemishes, you should cleanse your face especially thoroughly in the morning and evening. After your skincare routine, you can, of course, apply additional beard care products, such as beard oil.

When searching for the perfect facial care for men, it's important to know your personal skin type. There are six different skin types: normal skin, oily skin, dry skin, and combination skin. The best way to determine your skin type is to consult a professional at a beauty salon or dermatologist.

The following guidelines apply when determining at home:

Normal skin: Skin looks fresh and even

Oily skin: Skin tends to shine and has very visible pores

Impure skin: Tends to (often quickly temporary) impurities

Dry skin: Tends to itch, scaly and is sensitive

Sensitive skin: Is easily irritated, prone to redness and sometimes burns when exposed to care products

Combination skin: forehead area tends to shine, but the cheeks are rather dry
