1. Introduction
At Brooklyn Soap Company, we are committed to making our online shop bklynsoap.com accessible. This accessibility statement applies to the aforementioned online shop and website.
We are guided by the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) and the Ordinance on the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSGV). Additionally, we consider the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1
2. Accessibility Measures and Tools
To improve accessibility, we implement measures and use the following tools:
To meet the accessibility requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, we use the SEA Accessibility EAA ADA WCAG accessibility widget from Avada Group Company Limited on the website. This widget offers options to customize accessibility, which the website visitor can individually adjust to their needs via the "Accessibility Settings" item in the footer.
- Regular Reviews: Conducting regular tests to identify and resolve accessibility issues as needed.
- Alternative Texts: We strive to provide descriptive texts for images to make visual content more accessible.
- Font Size: We are developing the ability to enlarge text content without loss of functionality. Self-adjustment of this element is possible via the accessibility widget.
- Contrasts: We aim to make design elements more readable through adapted color and contrast choices. Self-adjustment of this element is already possible via the accessibility widget.
- Employee Training: We regularly train our employees in accessibility best practices as well as current standards and trends to ensure continuous improvement.
- Plain Language: We provide the General Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy in plain language to make these legal texts more understandable.
- Accessibility Widget: An accessibility widget has been added to our website, allowing users to independently customize the page according to their individual needs and requirements.
3. Status of Accessibility and Known Barriers
This website is currently only partially accessible. Continuous measures are being taken to further improve accessibility.
Despite our efforts, some content may not be fully accessible. This particularly applies to:
- Limited keyboard navigation in certain areas.
This measure has not yet been implemented. Due to technical dependencies on existing system components, accessible keyboard navigation has not been possible without fundamental structural adjustments. However, a revision is planned for upcoming development cycles.
- Missing alternative texts for individual images.
Most of the images have now been provided with alternative texts. For some older images, this has not yet been implemented as their post-processing requires significant manual effort. There are only a few remaining cases, which are being successively maintained.
The following sub-areas are not designed to be barrier-free, as this would represent a disproportionate burden:
- Videos: Adapting a large number or older videos to current accessibility standards would require a disproportionately high amount of personnel effort.
- PDF Documents: Converting a large number of PDF documents to accessible formats involves considerable technical and personnel resources.

5. Information on Accessibility and Conciliation
Should you believe that features of our website do not meet the requirements of the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG), you can contact us at any time. We strive to find an amicable solution together with you. If, even after your feedback or contact to the aforementioned contact for content falling under the BFSG, no satisfactory solution has been found, you can initiate a conciliation procedure according to §16 German Disability Equality Act (BGG) § 34 BFSG. Involving all parties, the enforcement body will attempt to identify the circumstances of the lack of accessibility so that they can be remedied.
