Men's facial care in winter – tips for your skin care
Winter presents our skin with a real challenge: Snow, ice, dry air from heating, and cold winds take their toll on your skin. In this article, we'll tell you what your skin needs now and how you can protect it from the rigors of winter with targeted facial care.

Facial care for men in winter
While your skin has to contend with UV rays, sweat, and heat in the summer , winter has its own unique challenges: The cold air outside and the dry, heated air inside cause your skin to dry out more quickly and become chapped. This can lead to dryness, itching, and irritation, especially on the face, which is exposed to the cold without protection. What helps is a facial care routine that's perfectly tailored to your skin's needs and relies on rich ingredients and active ingredients.

What does the face need in winter?
As temperatures drop, our sebaceous glands produce less oil, and the oil that's available isn't distributed as effectively. This causes our skin barrier to become cracked and permeable. Low humidity and heating air further damage it. The result? Dull, dry skin that's prone to tightness and itchiness. To help you maintain a fresh, well-groomed complexion even in winter, here are a few tricks to support your skin:

Tip 1: Switch to rich (oily) care
Facial skin, in particular, needs a little extra love in winter. Irritated by changing temperatures and frost, it requires an extra dose of care. In summer, light creams and gels provide you with plenty of moisture. In winter, however, you should avoid products with a very high water content, as frost can quickly cause skin damage. And you can have a little more of everything: In winter, oils and rich facial creams with natural oils are the perfect choice. If you are often outdoors or have particularly dry skin, you can use so-called cold creams to protect your skin. These creams have a particularly rich formula and strengthen the skin barrier particularly intensively. It is best to change your skincare routine in the fall so that your skin is not overly stressed by the cold in the first place.
Tip 2: Moisturizer in winter
Use rich moisturizers with ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, almond oil, shea butter, glycerin, or ceramides. These help to intensively hydrate the skin and strengthen its natural moisture barrier. Additionally, a face cream with a higher fat content can be beneficial, as it helps the skin retain moisture better and protects against the drying effects of cold air.
Tip 3: Don’t forget sun protection even in winter
Sun protection is absolutely essential, even in winter. UV rays are present year-round, even when the sun hides behind the clouds. You may remember this from your ski vacation... The effect is even more pronounced in snow. With a day cream with SPF or a sunscreen, you can protect your skin from sunburn even in winter and prevent premature skin aging.
Tip 4: Protection for your hands
Your hands are particularly exposed to the icy cold. That's why they need plenty of care: Use a mild hand wash that gently cleanses and conditions your hands. Hand cream provides your skin with high-quality oils and moisture. Moisturizing ingredients like almond oil or shea butter are a real game-changer for dry, chapped skin.
Tip 5: Cold protection on the lips
Chapped, dry lips in winter? It's incredibly unpleasant, but not uncommon due to sensitive, thin skin. A targeted lip balm with protective and nourishing ingredients like cocoa butter, shea butter, beeswax, or jojoba oil provides intensive care and protects your lips from the cold.
